OVERCOMING A DISABILITY Vol. 1

                                             OVERCOMING A DISABILITY Vol. 1

We all know what the word 'disability' mean; scientifically, a deformity, which could be physical, cognitive, sensory or psychological impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of an individual.

These conditions can result from interaction between a person's impairment and the barriers present in the physical, social, and attitudinal environment.

When one encounters a disability, it becomes a hinderance, a pause in their lives, it can result to a long term condition that becomes life threatening.

Talking about 'disability', let's look at some kinds of disability one could encounter or be suffering from

1. Anger

Anger may not be perceived as a disability, but it is. Anger, is an emotional feeling that causes one to act in an unusual, abnormal or in a weird way. It is a complex emotion that can be influenced by various factors including psychological, social and physiological aspects.

The body's sympathetic system is activated when you encounter a situation that triggers anger, tis triggers the release of adrenaline from the adrenal glands, which are located at the top of the kidney. Adrenaline is part of the body's "fight or flight" response, prepares you to react to perceived threats or challenges.

 The release of this adrenaline has several "Negative" effects on the body, let's take a peek at a few of them;

a. Cardiovascular system: This is a situation where the heart rate increases and blood pressure. Over time, this chronic activation of the cardiovascular system can contribute to hypertension (high blood pressure) and an increased risk of heart diseases.

b. Immune system: Prolonged anger and stress can weaken the immune system, making he body more susceptible to infections and illnesses. It can also slow down the healing process.

c. Digestive system: Stress and anger can affect the digestive system, leading to issues such as stomachaches, indigestion, and irritable bowel syndrome. (IBS)

d. Muscular system: When angry, people may tense their muscles, which, if sustained, can lead to muscles tension and pain, particularly in the neck, shoulders, and back.

e. Mental health: Chronic anger can take a toll on mental health, contributing to increased anxiety and depression. It may also lead to difficulty in managing emotions, making it challenging to build and maintain healthy relationships.

In a nut shell, 'Anger' is 'first' seen as a disability before one begins to have/encounter a disability that is related to health.

2.    NEATIVE EMOTIONS LIKE "HATRED"

A lot of people today, have been misled/taught or given the wrong information about 'life' for example, and so, this misinformation has led them to harbor a negative feeling about life and even about people who seem to enjoy life, their perspective about life has been tainted, now all they have in their heart is hatred.

Hatred is a result of complex interactions between various brain regions, neurotransmitters, and hormones. Hatred however, is influenced by a wide range of factors, including past experience, belief systems, cultural influences, and individual personality traits. The transmitter that play a role in intense negative emotions, including hatred, is serotonin. It is often associated with mood regulation, and imbalances in serotonin levels have been linked to mood disorders and aggression.

Its negative effects include;

a. Cardiovascular system

b. Weakened immune system

c. Digestive problems

d. Mental health issue

e. Interpersonal difficulties

Amongst others...

Just like anger, negative emotions are harmful to the body system and are a 'disability'.
